Star parties to be held at Mingo Creek County Park
California Class of ’66 having picnic luncheon
The Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh will hold public star parties Friday and Saturday at the Mingo Creek County Park observatory, Mansion Hill Extension, past shelter 10 in Washington County.

Safe solar observing will be at 7 p.m., night sky observing at approximately 9 p.m., weather permitting.
An introduction to astrophotography seminar will be held 5 p.m. Saturday.
The observatory is handicap accessible. There is no charge for your visit; however, donations are accepted to cover operating expenses. Reservations are not required and there is no group size limit.

California High School Class of 1966 will have its annual picnic luncheon at 1 p.m. Friday at 80 Broad St., Marianna.
BV Block Party, Bike Run and Car Show slated for Saturday
The 11th annual Belle Vernon Block Party, Bike Run and Car Show will be held Saturday along Broad Avenue, which will be closed from Vine to Grant Street. The event will include vendors, food trucks and vintage cars, bikes and trucks that will line Broad Avenue to raise money for the Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2 and North Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department.
Registration for the bike run will be at 10 a.m. at the Belle Vernon Musical Society, 514 Grant St. A blessing of the bikes will be held at 11 a.m., followed by kickstands going up.
The car show will begin at noon with registrations. Trophies will be awarded.
Musical entertainment will be provided by a performance at noon by DJ EESH, and bands, Patron at 2 p.m., Dirty $anchez at 5 p.m. and Bad Mother Trucker from 7 to 10 p.m.

Rostraver Sportsmen to meet Monday
The Rostraver Sportsmen and Conservation Association, 539 Cedar Creek Road, Rostraver Township, will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday. All members are encouraged to attend. Monessen library offers two programs on Monday
The Monessen Public Library will hold two programs on Monday. Join Miss Sarah at 1 p.m. for a fun-filled time learning about farms and farming. Attendees will plant a flower and hear a story about farms. Then at 4:30 p.m., the monthly game night will be held. Come to the library and play some games. Snacks will be provided.
Donora Knights of Columbus to meet Tuesday
Archbishop Elko Donora Knights of Columbus Council 1941 will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the K of C room, located in St. Andrew the Apostle Donora church, 1 Park Manor Road, Donora.
Craft night to be held at Mon City library
The Monongahela Area Library will host a craft workshop at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Create a picture with old buttons. Cost is $10 per person, and registration is required by calling 724-258-5409 or stopping at the library at 813 W. Main St.
Monessen CDA corrects ice cream social hosts
Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Monessen 776 held an ice cream social at its June meeting. Hosts for the social included Gloria Hayes, Mary Smereczniak and Cheryl McLaughlin. The names were incorrectly submitted and ran in the previous club notes.
