• Ladies night in the Grebb League was moved indoors but the action, like the conditions inside California Middle School gym was very hot. Lagerheads was the story of the night as they knocked off previously unbeaten Fredericktown Butcher Shop, 40-33, to pick up its first win in the Girls Division. Brownsville’s Maris Seto had a gamehigh 16 points including 10 points in the second half. The Butcher Shop was able to pull within seven points but were defeated by back-to-back jumpers by Waynesburg’s Kerilyn Wilkins.
• The Cal U swimming team has earned the College Swim Coaches of America Academic All-American Team laurels for the 11th consecutive year and three team members earned individual honors from the organization.

• In Fayette County League action, Charleroi Ponderosa defeated Whitehouse, 11-1. Charleroi hurler Brad Bender limited Whitehouse to just one run and three hits over six innings. Bender pitched a complete game, which was stopped after six innings due to the 10-run rule. Ponderosa got off to a quick start, scoring four runs in the first inning and never looking back. Charleroi scored at least one run in every inning but Whitehouse’s lone run came in the top of the third inning. With the win, Ponderosa remained in the top spot in the Fayette County League.
• Dunlevy ended its Greater Pittsburgh Soccer League regular season on a winning note by defeating the Pittsburgh Strikers, 4-2. Dunlevy, which finished its season 6-3-1, is now waiting for news about who they will face in the first round of the playoffs. Luke Paglia was the scoring star for Dunlevy, tallying three goals for the winners. Paglia opened the scoring in the first half before striker Jamie Adams scored on a free kick to tie the score to 1-1. In the second half, a pair of Paglia goals both assisted by Joe Bosely were sandwiched around a goal by Mark Tuccelli assisted by Dave King. A penalty kick by striker Grant Naylor brought the score to 4-2.
