• Campy’s Pizza had an opportunity to move into a tie for first place with a win over short-handed BeeGraphix in Grebb League action but they were unable to pull off the upset against the strongwilled league leaders. BeeGraphix overcame their lack of substitutes fielding the five-man minimum in 90-degree heat to pull off a 82-75 win. Elijah Minnie led the way for the winners, falling a block short of achieving a triple double. The 6-9 Lincoln Park star scored 26 points, 15 rebounds and 9 blocks. Monessen’s Noah Rullo had a memorable shooting night, netting 20 points including four 3-pointers.

• A blowout and an 11-inning thriller showcased Rostraver’s weekend in the Fayette County league. Thanks to an 18-2 shellacking of Connellsville and a 7-6 extra- inning victory over Mario’s, Rostraver is riding the wave of a 10-game winning streak. Rostraver manager Dan Palm said, “We should have won the game after we were up 6-0 in the seventh inning but we were able to pull it out after their comeback. Starting pitcher Ryan Shetterly went seven innings for Rostraver before being replaced by Craig Conforti on the mound.
• Thanks to some ill-timed inclement weather the Mon Yough Redbirds were washed out. Due to the storms, Mon Yough’s Colt League final against North Allegheny will be played at the North Allegheny Hig School field. Redbird’s coach Tony Pascarella said his team just wants to get on the field and play ball. “The kids just want to play this game already. They get mentally focused for the weekend and now the earliest the finals can be played is Tuesday. But you can’t argue with the weather and whenever the game is played, we’ll be ready.”
