Al-Anon is a support and educational group for relatives and friends of problem drinkers. The group meets Tuesdays unless otherwise noted.
Dress for Success event to take place at Carnegie library of McKeesport
The Carnegie Free Library of McKeesport is hosting a community dinner along with a visit from Dress for Success, Pittsburgh, from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the library, 1507 Library Ave., McKeesport.
Those attending can choose three items of business attire (plus more) and stay for a meal of hot meatloaf sandwiches, mashed potatoes and green beans.

Kindergarten readiness story time to be held at Monongahela library
The Monongahela Area Library, 813 West Main St., Monongahela, will hold a kindergarten readiness story time from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday. The story time is a refresher for little minds with activities and crafts on the alphabet, numbers and shapes, for ages 4 to 6.
Living with Diabetes group to meet at Penn Highlands Mon Valley
Penn Highlands Mon Valley Living with Diabetes Support Group will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center, 1163 Country Club Road, Carroll Township. The topic for the August meeting is grilling safety and healthy barbecue tips. The Diabetes and Nutrition Department of Penn Highlands Mon Valley is proud to offer a Living with Diabetes Support Group for those who have been diagnosed with diabetes or are the family member or caregiver of someone with diabetes. There is no cost, and it doesn’t matter where a participant is receiving treatment. For more information, call 724-258-1483.
The White Oak Senior Activities group will meet for coffee hour at 9:30 a.m. Thursday and Aug. 22 at the White Oak Community Center, 1798 Lower Heckman Road.
Charleroi Goldenagers to meet Thursday
The Charleroi Area Goldenagers will conduct a meeting at noon Thursday at the Charleroi American Legion.
Final payment is due for the following trips: Sept. 18, Simply Sweet; Oct. 8 and 9, “Daniel” at the Lancaster Sight and Sound Theater; and Nov. 14, Amish Christmas.

Care and Share store to hold ‘Still Summer Sale’
A “Still Summer Sale,” all summer clothing is buy one-get two free, will be held Thursday and Friday at the Care & Share thrift store, at the California United Methodist Church, 227 Third St. (across from the Dairy Queen). Hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
