Penn Highlands to hold artisan mixes sale

An artisan mixes sale (all natural mixes, dip mixes, cheese balls, no bake cheesecake, fruit dips, wine slush, cocktail mixes, beer bread and more) will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at the Penn Highlands Mon Valley lobby, 1163 Country Club Road, Carroll Township. The sale is a fundraiser for the Penn Highlands Mon Valley Auxiliary.
Inside flea market to be held at Holy Resurrection
Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, 222 Mary Street, Belle Vernon, will hold an inside flea market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Homesteading classes to be held at the historic Greenock Log House
Sourdough bread, bread and butter pickles and sauerkraut preserved the same way some great-grandmothers did will be the focus of an event at the Greenock Log House on Saturday.
Cindy Dukic and Marilyn Backus, members of the Elizabeth Township Historical Society, will offer insight into these preserving ways during homesteading classes from noon to 4 p.m. at the log house. Recipes will be available in a $5 cookbook. Samples may be tasted with the hot dogs, baked goods and refreshments that will be served. These classes are part of the series of programs offered on the fourth Saturdays of the month at the 1790 log home that will be open for tours at 1235 Greenock Buena Vista Road, Elizabeth Township.
Space is still available for artists, crafters and vendors to sell their goods at Greenock Log House Days on Sept. 28. To reserve a spot, send a $30 check made to Log House Fund and mail to Debbie Gilbert, 1109 Sommerset St., McKeesport, PA 15135. For details, call 412-807-8452.
First Christian Church to hold annual car show
The First Christian Church, 61 Walnut Ridge Road, Charleroi, will hold its second annual car show from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. Car registration is $10 and will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Music will be provided by DJ Jerry Jericho. There will be free coffee and doughnuts.

Registration for preschool story time with Miss Kelly (for ages 3-5) will be open Monday at the Rostraver Public Library, 700 Plaza Drive, Rostraver Township. Story time begins Sept. 12. Registration is required for material purposes.
Saints Joachim and Anne Parish to hold adult education series
An adult formation study for fall, “Jesus and the Eucharist” will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays from Sept. 17-Oct. 29 at Saints Joachim and Anne’s Saint Michael-Archangel Hall, 101 McLay Drive, Elizabeth, and from 9:15 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 18-Oct. 30 at Queen of the Rosary Hall, 530 Michigan Ave., Glassport.
Each session opens with an exhortation from a different bishop, including teaching from prominent theologians and influential figures in the church today and highlights personal testimonies from everyday Catholics who have experienced the transformative power of the Eucharistic love in their own lives.
