Flora Gillon

Flora Gillon, 89, of Charleroi, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 26, 2024. A daughter of the late Anthony and Isabell Pro Matrozzo, she was born in Belle Vernon on Sept. 12, 1934. Catholic by faith, Flora was a member of the former Mary, Mother of the Church in Charleroi. She enjoyed golfing and was a member of two women’s leagues, Linden Hall and Willowbrook. Flora also enjoyed playing cards and bowling at the former Lynnwood Lanes and was nicknamed “Bunny Hop” by her friends there. She was a devoted mother and wife and her biggest enjoyment was her family, especially making bread and spaghetti on Sundays. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Vicky and David Talpas of Washington, and Sherri and James Gaydos of Cranberry; two sons and daughters-inlaw, Arthur and Joan Gillon of Butler and David and Debbie Gillon of Charleroi; 10 grandchildren, Michele Gillon, Nikki Gifford, Ryan (Ally) Gillon, David Gillon, Kelly (Adam) Brewer, Richard (Melissa) Biagini, Sean (Melinda) Biagini, Hunter Talpas, Justin Gaydos and Julia (Alex) Daltorio; and 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Arthur Gillon, on July 6, 2007; a brother, James Matrozzo; a grandson, Arthur Gillon III; and a grandson-in-law, Neal Gifford. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCre-matory. com.
