Overdose day to be held at Monessen boat launch
Bishop Phelan Assembly 911 Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus of the Mon Valley will hold its monthly meeting Thursday at the Charleroi Knights of Columbus Council Hall in St. Andrew the Apostle Parish School, located on the corner of Washington Avenue and Sixth Street in Charleroi.

Recitation of the rosary will begin at 7:10 p.m. followed by the business meeting at 7:30 p.m. At the meeting, activities, programs and projects for the assembly in the coming months will be part of the discussion as well as what the assembly may get involved in for the 2024-25 fraternal year that began on July 1. All assembly officers and members are strongly encouraged to attend this meeting.
International Overdose Day will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the Herman Mihalich Memorial Boat Launch pavilion in Monessen.
A community-wide event will be held to honor the lives of those lost and find hope for a brighter tomorrow free of addictions. Submit a picture or the name of a loved one lost to addiction to be honored at the event.
Lunch and ice cream will be included at no charge.

McKeesport Lions Rib Fest entertainment announced
As part of the McKeesport Lions Rib Festival being held Aug. 31-Sept. 2, Labor Day weekend, the free summer concert series will continue at 7 p.m. with Beatlemania Magic on Friday; Bon Journey on Saturday; the Jaggerz on Sunday and The Booze Brothers on Monday at the Lions bandshell, located in Renziehausen Park. Fireworks will follow the Monday concert.

The Clarks to perform at next aquatorium concert
The next and final of the season Rockin’ on the Mon concerts will be held Saturday at the Noble J. Dick Aquatorium, 200 Railroad St., Monongahela. The Clarks will perform with Jacian Blaze as opener.
Gate opens at 6 p.m. Admission is $10. The concerts are held by Aquatorium Innovations.
Bona Fide Car Club to host car show and parts swap meet at Carroll Township VFD
The seventh annual Bona Fide Car Club car show and parts swap meet will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Carroll Township Volunteer Fire Department, 988 state Route 837, Monongahela. Rain date is Sept. 1.
Vehicle registration is $5; parts vendor setup is $20. No vendor tables will be provided, must be approved and set up by 9 a.m. the day of the show. Vendors can call Joe at 412-996-5261.
Approximately 30 hand-crafted trophies will be awarded. Club judging begins at 2 p.m., presentation of trophies at 4 p.m. All cars, trucks and motorcycles are welcome to register.
A kids’ Pine Wood Derby race will be held. The club supplies the cars. Three trophies will be awarded to the winners.
Food and beverages will be sold. There will be a 50/50, music, basket auction and door prizes awarded.
All proceeds will benefit the fire department.
Belle Vernon VFC to sell BBQ pork chop dinners
The Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Co., 10 Main St., (rear) will hold a dine-in or takeout barbecued pork chop dinner from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
The cost of the dinner is $15 and will include two barbecued pork chops, baked potato, baked beans and coleslaw. Debit cards are accepted.

Sambol’s Bakery will be at the hospital lobby of Penn Highlands Mon Valley, 1163 Country Club Road, Carroll Township, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. Hot sausage, sweet sausage, pretzels and hot dogs will also be sold.
The event is sponsored by and benefits Penn Highlands Mon Valley Auxiliary.
Dinner and a show to be held at Long Branch Community Grange
Mystery Most Wanted Band of Actors will return to the Long Branch Community Grange Sept. 21 with the production of “Say Good Night, Man in Tights” or “Robin Hood Ain’t Looking So Good.”
A catered buffet dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and will feature breaded boneless chicken breast, sausage with peppers and onions, pasta, haluski, California blend vegetables, broccoli salad and cake. Beverages will also be provided The doors will open at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m. and the show at 7 p.m.
The grange is located at 210 Chestnut St., Coal Center. There is ample parking, and the building is handicap accessible.
The price of the meal and show is $40. Tickets can be purchased from any of the grange members or by calling 724-9382529 or 724-469-2736. Checks should be made out to Long Branch Community Grange. Tickets must be purchased before Sept. 14; no tickets will be sold at the door.
Donora library to host Tai Chi classes
The next eight-week session of Tai Chi will begin Sept. 11 at the Donora Public Library, 810 Meldon Ave.
This gentle form of exercise can help maintain strength, flexibility and balance and can be the perfect activity for seniors. Certified instructor Gabrielle Burke will guide participants. Tai Chi is safe and may be beneficial in improving balance and preventing falls in older adults and people with Parkinson’s disease.
Classes are held at 12:30 p.m. Mondays and at noon Wednesdays. The free classes are sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging. Registration is required by calling the library at 724-379-7940.
