Bearcats drop 11-6 decision to Burgettstown

Bentworth dropped an 11-6 result against Burgettstown Friday night as every point was scored in the second half. Burgettstown (1-0) opened the scoring in the third quarter through a 22-yard field goal from Colton County, but the Bearcats (0-1) made a crucial mistake on the ensuing possession.
About 10 seconds later, Burgettstown added to its lead on a 5-yard fumble return touchdown from William Stevenson to make it 11-0 after a two-point conversion.
Ben Hays caught a 16-yard strike from Tristan Hackinson to get Bentworth on the board late, but the home squad couldn’t rally.

Volleyball Nonsection California 3, Jefferson-Morgan 1 (Thursday) California won the first two sets 25-21 and 25-12 before dropping the third one 25-22. The Trojans quickly rebounded with a 25-22 set to cap off a nonsection victory Thursday night. California’s Ava Bojtos managed 16 assists and Addison Gregory added 11. Giana Smith and Morgan Ross had seven kills in the victory.
Golf Boys Section 7-2A
South Allegheny 237, East Allegheny 257 South Allegheny claimed a section victory behind a match-leading 38 from Josh Nesky.
Noah Cortes shot a 44, Josh Jackowski finished with a 51, and Mason Campano and Cam Colecchi carded a 52 for the Gladiators.
For East Allegheny, Tyler Loga shot a 44, Logan Randolph had a 46, Jacob Byngham finished with a 52, Jesse Kelley shot a 57 and Jack Tomino claimed a 58.
Section 8-2A Elizabeth Forward 196, Yough 282
The Warriors defeated Yough to move to 8-1 overall and 6-1 in Section 8-2A Friday. Landon O’Donnell led the Cougars, who fell to 1-6 in section play, with a 48. Anthony Bonari (54), Nathaniel Bell (55), Sydney Scherich (61) and Ian Toman (64) filled in behind him.
For EF, Aaron Didjunas had the low score with a 34. Julien Hredocik shot a 39, JJ Downelly and Luke Boyer finished with a 40 and Mitchell Vuick carded a 43.
