Epiphany Ladies to hold first meeting of new year
The Howe Cemetery board will conduct a meeting 6 p.m. Monday at the Howe Cemetery/Eckert Chapel, 422 Dally Road, Coal Center. The meeting is held by the Howe Cemetery Board Association and is open to the public.

The Epiphany Ladies will hold its first meeting of 2024-25 at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Epiphany church hall. The theme for this term is “The Corporal Works of Mercy.” “Feed the Hungry” will be the initial work presented, and all members are asked to bring a donation of canned or dry food to the meeting. Collected food items will be added to the food drive, sponsored by the Monessen Public Library to benefit the Westmoreland County Food Bank. All members and ladies interested in the organization are welcome and invited to attend.
Bellmar Class of 1966 meeting for lunch
Bellmar High School Class of 1966 will meet for lunch 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hoss’s Steak and Sea House, Rostraver Township.
Iceland coinage topic of coin club meeting
The monthly meeting of the South Hills Coin Club will be held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Bethel Park Municipal Building, 5100 W. Library Ave., Bethel Park. All members and the public are invited. This month’s program will be on the history of Iceland through its coinage. A 50/50 will be offered and children’s prizes will be awarded. Applications are now being accepted for membership. BV Clothes 4U lists September openings
The Clothes 4 U mission of the First United Methodist Church, 200 State St., Belle Vernon, will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday and Sept. 24.
Gently used, clean clothing is being accepted, to be available for Mon Valley residents.

The Monessen Center for Active Adults, 1925 Grand Blvd., Monessen, will host a fine arts painting class at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 12.

Library offering crocheting/ computer basics classes
The Monongahela Area Library, 813 W. Main St., offers a crochet and needlecraft group and computer basics class as follows:
• Crochet ’n needlecrafts — 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays. This adults-only group gives attendees a chance to gather and work on a project of their choice.
• Computer Basics — 4 to 5 p.m., Tuesdays, Sept. 10, 17 and 24. The half-hour, one-on-one sessions are by appointment. Call ahead at 724-258-5409.
California UM Church group to discuss domestic violence
The California United Methodist Church’s United Women in Faith will resume its meetings on Tuesday and will welcome Dr. Paula Millsaps, the founding director of Joel 2 Missions.
Domestic Violence Awareness month is in October, and the key initiatives include identifying what qualifies as domestic violence, sharing resources that victims can use to leave their abusers and encouraging friends and loved ones of victims to be more vigilant and provide assistance when they suspect someone is being abused.
The program begins at 11 a.m. A light lunch will follow. All are welcome to attend.
