McKeesport Al-Anon group meets Tuesdays

Proceeds of the event will benefit Penn Highlands Mon Valley’s Ladies Auxiliary.
Help Kids Beat Cancer event set at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1317 Grand Blvd., Monessen, will host the seventh annual Help Kids Beat Cancer event from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Events will include a basket auction and games, and a concession stand will be open.
All proceeds go to Thon, a student-run philanthropy committed to enhancing the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer.
The McKeesport Al-Anon group will meet noon Tuesday at Beulah Park United Methodist Church on Grandview Avenue.
Al-Anon is a support and educational group for relatives and friends of problem drinkers. The group meets Tuesdays unless otherwise noted.
Book Bites/Teen Club to meet at Mon City library
The Book Bites Book Club will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Monongahela Area Library, 813 W. Main St., Monongahela. The chosen options for September are “A Fall of Marigolds” by Susan Meissner and “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir,” by Matthew Perry. Mobile food pantries to be at McKeesport UM churches
Mobile food pantries will be held Thursday at the following McKeesport United Methodist churches:
• Beulah Park, 1615 Grandview Ave., 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• Christy Park, 436 29th St., 1 to 2 p.m.
• West Side, 307 Atlantic Ave., 2 to 2:45 p.m.
Tri County Borough Association to meet
The monthly meeting of the Tri County Borough Association will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Elco Civic Center, 400 Vesta St., Elco. Ashley Seman, executive director of the Mid Mon Valley Transit Authority, will be the guest speaker.
Final Renzie market to be open on Thursday
The final Renzie market of the season will be open from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the McKeesport Volunteer Fire Department No. 2 station in Renzie Park.
MV Coin Club to discuss 1923 German money
The monthly meeting of the Mon Valley Coin Club will take place 7 p.m. Thursday at VFW Post 1409, 793 E. Main St., Monongahela. Discussion will be held on 1923 German hyper-inflation money.
