Nancy Jane Goodwin-Pivarnik – Perryopolis
Nancy Jane Goodwin-Pivarnik, 81, of Perryopolis, passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, after bravely fighting pneumonia at AHN Jefferson Hospital, Jefferson Hills. Born April 3, 1943, in Connellsville, Pa., she was the youngest of seven to the late Charles R. and Margaret Opal Shultz Goodwin. A lifelong resident of the Dawson and Perryopolis area, Mrs. Pivarnik was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Perryopolis. She worked as a dedicated Walmart associate for nearly 30 years, where she was known for her strong work ethic and even stronger personality. Outside of work, she had a love for flowers, Keystone Bakery cream sticks and was also famous in her family for her delicious homemade fudge, though she only made it when the weather was just right. Despite the many challenges and losses in her life, Nancy remained tough, resilient and fiercely protective of her family. She showed her love not with softness, but with a strength that carried those she cared for through hard times. Nancy is survived by her devoted daughter, Ricki Moody of Fairhope; sister, Norma; beloved granddaughter and grandson, Jessica and Matthew Lauman; her loyal furry companion, Bud; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Pivarnik; son-in-law, Dan Moody; and five siblings, Junior, Jess, Robert, Connie and Harriott. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 191 Liberty St., Perryopolis, 724-736-2515. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC, with the Rev. Rodolfo Meija of St. John the Baptist Church officiating.
