Various after-school programs with the Mon Valley Youth and Teen Association are coming up for local students.
Boys and girls in grades K-12 meet during the school year to develop skills, learn the value of goal setting and more. Teen groups may choose to continue meeting during the summer months and are encouraged to do so.
Tours of the facility are available upon request, and they are currently hiring and looking for volunteers. Signups for this program can be found at www.mvyata.org as well as permission forms for all after school programs.

“This program provides elementary-aged children a chance to create arts & crafts, play games, limited homework help, and much more,” the website states. “Children also receive a nutritious meal upon arrival. Space is limited, so sign up early.”
The child is required to be in kindergarten through fourth grade, a bus is provided from Ringgold Elementary School South to the Youth and Teen Center and sign-ups for kids in different schools is welcome, but they would need to be transported to the center by a parent/guardian.

Teens group
There is also a teens after school program for only ninth- through 12th-grade students, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the Youth and Teen Center.
Following the Ringgold calendar, this program provides a safe and encouraging environment for teens to learn and grow, helping them ease into adulthood.
They also have opportunities to give back through community service and acts of kindness, such as participating in neighborhood litter clean-ups, making treats for younger groups, and training options to become junior counselors at Day Camp or Camp Watakamini.
Transportation is the responsibility of a parent or guardian, summer sessions are possible if there is enough interest to meet regularly and a yearly membership fee ($5/ individual or $10/family) is required.
