Belle Vernon boys conquer Yough
Belle Vernon increased its winning streak to three games and senior Trevor Kovatch inched closer to history in a 5-1 Leopards win over visiting Yough Monday.
Brandon Yeschenko scored a pair of first-half goals and added another in the second half for a hat trick to lead the BVA offense.
Chris Showman and Kovatch each added goals for the Leopards (6-5).
With his goal, Kovatch sits at 99 career goals, tying the school record for career goals. He has at least five more games for his chance to break it.
The Leopards got assists from Deydon Soto, Jackson Pressel and Dom Pireaux in the win.
BVA is on the road at Latrobe tonight.
Girls Elizabeth Forward 0, Kiski Area 0 (2OT) The Warriors and Cavaliers played to a scoreless draw in Section 4-3A action Monday.
Adysson Davis made eight saves for Elizabeth Forward (3-6-1, 3-5-1). Bria Bires had five saves for Kiski (5-6-1, 5-3-1).
The Warriors are home with Indiana in a pivotal matchup Wednesday.
McKeesport 1, Brashear 0 The Tigers picked up a forfeit win over the Bulls Monday in non-section play.
McKeesport will travel to Carrick Wednesday.

The Spartans remained winless (0-9, 0-5) as the Eagles came to town and picked up a sweep.
Game scores were 25-9, 25-12 and 2522.
No other information was reported. Serra Catholic (7-4, 3-2) travels to Trinity Christian today for a 4 p.m. matinee.
