Letters to the Editor policy
The editorial department of the Mon Valley Independent encourages letters to the editor. Letters must be no more than 500 words, must be in good taste and must include the author’s name, town of residence and telephone number for verification.

All letters must be original and topical. We won’t accept submissions that are mostly quotes from other printed material or that are being mass distributed by political organizations.
Also, no poetry please.
We also won’t permit name calling between letter writers. Please make your points without resorting to personal insults.
We reserve the right to accept or reject any letter for publication and to edit for grammar and length.
