Lauren Steele scored her first career varsity goal for the Ringgold girls soccer team Wednesday, and it was a big one.
Steele got a pass from Imani Arnold and found the back of the net to give the Rams a thrilling, come-from-behind 5-4 win on the road at Steel Valley in Section 1-2A play.
Ringgold (4-8-1, 3-6-1) trailed 4-2 at the half before scoring three unanswered goals in the second.
“After calling out the effort versus Belle Vernon, we still came out just slow,” Ringgold head coach Ed Rosensteel said. “Something finally clicked and they fought through.
“I was happy how they responded to start the second half. You could see the momentum starting to build Steel Valley had a few opportunities right in front of the goal but the girls rallied and Alayna (Macioce) stood tall. I hope we grew up tonight because it looked like it for at least 60 minutes.”
Emily Bucchianeri got the scoring started for the Rams in the first half, scoring a pair of goals and keeping her team within striking distance.
Steel Valley (4-8, 3-7) was held scoreless over the final 40 minutes, but unfortunately for them, Miranda Santina found her footing for the Rams.
Santina scored on a free kick, then added another goal to tie the game before Steele’s heroics.

Brownsville’s keeper played well,” Bentworth coach Tyler Hamstra said. “We have to keep challenging the girls to be confident and go to goal. Emme had the best game of her career tonight and it really shows our team balance and depth.
