• After facing a string of tough foes, Cal U will be playing winless Seton Hill Saturday. It’s the first-ever conference matchup between the two teams. The Vulcans are in a three-way tie for second place in the PSAC West with IUP and Slippery Rock, a game behind Gannon.
2004
• The Cal U men’s soccer team won the regular season title in the PSAC with a 2-1 win over visiting Bloomsburg.
Pete Kuriotis and Bryan Higgins scored goals for the Vulcans with Jacob Morrison and Alan Alcalde getting assists. Senior goalie C.J. Cameron made seven saves to up his record to 9-4-2 with 0.89 goals against and a .827 save percentage.
1994
• Belle Vernon Area sophomore Jason Murray is the Valley Independent Player of the Week. Despite his youth, Murray has already amassed an impressive record. After six games in 1994, Murray leads the Keystone Conference in both rushing and scoring. With 402 offensive yards on 46 carries, Murray is averaging almost nine yards per carry. He has also scored a team high seven touchdowns.
