Louise A. Ghinassi – Monessen
Louise A. Ghinassi, a beloved mother, wife, nana, aunt and friend, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024, sur rounded by her loving f a mily. Born on Jan. 20, 1930, in Monessen, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Rose DeLuca of 201 Reed Ave. Louise enjoyed a remarkable and long life, during which she saw the end of the Great Depression, years of World War II, peak of the steel industry, explosion of the Internet, a global pandemic and much, much more. In her early career, she was a quality inspector at Margura’s clothing factory and later carried the same responsibilities for the London Fog clothing line at Donora Sportswear. A subsequent, and perhaps far more cherished, role came when she served as a lunch lady at Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic School, the same school attended by her grandchildren. A lifelong resident and local icon of Monessen, Louise was a familiar face at Libby’s — often seen enjoying a cup of coffee and engaging in animated discussions involving the latest in local town chatter. A proud member of Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic Church, Louise spent many years faithfully attending daily Mass. She answered to many names with pride — Mom, Nana, Aunt Louise, and Weezy — each reflecting her deep commitment to family and friends. Known for her selflessness, warmth and infectious sense of humor, she had a unique ability to make everyone feel loved and cherished. Her two sons and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Ghinassi of Monessen, Dr. Frank A. Ghinassi and his wife Dr. Cheryl Ghinassi, both of Princeton, N.J., survive Louise. Three grandchildren, Morgan, Eric and Rose Ghinassi, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her. Her husband of 63 years, Frank A. Ghinassi; daughter-in-law, Kelly Enright Ghinassi; twin sister, Evelyn Dabiero; sister, Mary Como; and brothers, Joe, Johnny, and Lawrence DeLuca preceded her in death. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, at DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, located at 441 Reed Ave., Monessen. A blessing will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024, in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Epiphany of Our Lord Church. Louise’s incredible spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Condolences are being accepted for the family at www.dalfonso-billick. com.
