• The Steel Valley Ironmen proved too much for Belle Vernon Area, 81-47, in their section 4-3A contest. The Leps rallied from a tough first quarter to enter halftime down by only four points, 30-26. Unfortunately for the Leps, the second half of the game was dominated by Ironmen senior guard Alan Smith. Smith exploded for 20 points in the second half of the game.

• The Ringgold and Charleroi basketball teams continued to go in different directions at Hoopfest ’94. The Rams upped their winning streak to four and record to 6-1 with an 81-61 triumph over Peters Township. The Cougars bowed to Washington, 55-46, for their second straight defeat to slip back to 4-2. Ringgold resumes against unbeaten McKeesport.
Mike Horan led the Rams with 21 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, when Ringgold hit 15 of 21 free throws to put away the Indians.
