EF’s Terza sets career-high with Clarion
Just days after playing in front of friends, family and former teammates at the California (Pa.) Convocation Center, Elizabeth Forward graduate Alyssa Terza had her best game wearing the blue and gold at Clarion University.
Terza came off the bench and drained five 3-pointers and scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Golden Eagles to a 92-72 win over visiting Slippery Rock at Tippin Gymnasium.
Against the Rock, Terza was second on the team with 27 minutes played. She shot 7 of 11 from the field, including 5 of 8 from beyond the arc. She also added five rebounds and three steals in the win for Clarion (12-6, 6-5).
Terza is averaging just under 5 points per game and is fourth on the team in defensive rebounds with 44 and second on the squad with 9 blocks in her 17 games played.
In Wednesday’s 106-96 loss to Kutztown in triple overtime, Terza played a season-high 33 minutes and grabbed down a team-high 8 rebounds.
Evan Berger, Edinboro
The former Thomas Jefferson star is off to a hot start with the Fighting Scots in his freshman season, starting all 17 games.
Berger is averaging over 10 points per game and scored a career-high 27 points last week in a win over Bryant & Stratton. In the game, Berger went 7 of 11 from 3-point range and shot 69% from the field.
It was Berger’s third 20-point game of the season as he hit 22 points twice, against D’Youville on Nov. 13 and Nov. 19 against Penn State-DuBois.
Rachael Manfredo, Edinboro
The McKeesport product is averaging a little over 10 minutes per game for the Fighting Scots and is averaging a respectable 6 points per game.
Manfredo has hit double figures in two of her last four games, including a career- high 18 points against Pitt-Johnstown Jan. 8. In a win over Bryant & Stratton last week, Manfredo canned 13 points and finished with 14 rebounds for her first career double-double. She played a career-high 24 minutes and shot 6 of 10 from the field for the Fighting Scots (14-4, 9-2).
Brooke Evans, St. Vincent
The McKeesport grad hasn’t started a game for the Bearcats (9-8, 8-4), but she’s made an impact regardless of what she’s asked to do on the floor.
She’s become one of the primary ball-handlers, she plays tough defense and she has showed her ability to get to the rim when needed.
Evans is averaging 20 minutes of playing time per game and is the team’s second- leading rebounder with 94, including a team-high 35 on the offensive glass.
She’s averaging just over 5 points per game and nearly 6 rebounds per contest. She leads the team with 53 assists and is second with 23 steals.
