James G. Sutherland – Speers
James G. Sutherland, 93, of Speers, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025, in his home. A son of the late James L. and Margaret Gaskill Sutherland, he was born in Speers on April 6, 1931. A lifelong resident of Speers and a U.S. Marine veteran, James was an avid golfer, a former member of Speers United Methodist Church and an honorary member of Mon Valley Country Club. He had a lifelong career as a manager and treasurer of the Monessen Credit Union and then Mon Valley Federal Credit Union in Allenport. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Connie (Martin) Sutherland; a sister, Marion Tallarico of Speers; a brother in-law, Ronald (Grace) Martin of Fayette City; nephews, Mark and Curt Martin, also of Fayette City; a niece, Barbara (Steve) Beitzell of Maryland; and several cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son at birth; and a brother in-law, Francis Tallarico.
