The list of Pittsburgh Steelers headed to this weekend’s NFL Pro Bowl events continues to grow by the day.
Inside linebacker Patrick Queen on Wednesday was announced as an addition to the AFC roster. Queen was called upon as a replacement for his former teammate with the Baltimore Ravens, Roquan Smith.
In his first season with the Steelers after signing a threeyear, $41 million contract as a free agent, Queen was an every-down defender for the Steelers who wore the “green dot” for communication from the sidelines.
Queen led the Steelers with 129 tackles and added six tackles for loss, seven pass defenses, one sack, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
A former first-round pick, Queen’s career blossomed last season in the first full year playing next to Smith in the middle of the Ravens’ defense. Smith has made first-team AP NFL All-Pro the past three seasons; Queen was second-team All-Pro in 2023, but his play lacked the “splash” in his first season with the Steelers.
Earlier this week, special- teamer Miles Killebrew, guard Isaac Seumalo and quarterback Russell Wilson were Steelers announced as replacements for Pro Bowlers who opted out for injury reasons or are preparing for the Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Outside linebacker T.J. Watt, defensive tackle Cameron Heyward, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and kicker Chris Boswell were Steelers initially honored as Pro Bowl performers in combined balloting by players, coaches and fans. Watt will not participate in the festivities this weekend in Orlando, Fla.
In lieu of a team game, the NFL has made the Pro Bowl a weekend of skills competitions and a flag football game.
