Farnan poured in a career-high 30 points for the Gladiators (4-14, 4-7) and Lotz chipped in 16 points to lead the way. The pair combined to hit five 3-pointers in the win.
The first and fourth quarters were instrumental in South Allegheny’s win as the Glads outscored the Ironmen, 12-3, in the opening five minutes. After leading by 12 heading into the final quarter, SA exploded for 19 points with Steel Valley only managing seven.
Amari Randall led Steel Valley (216, 2-8) with 11 points.
The Gladiators are back in action Monday at home against Avonworth.
Laurel Highlands 52, Belle Vernon 20
The Mustangs held the Leopards (8-11, 5-6) to only four points in three of the four quarters as they rolled to a Section 3-4A win at Belle Vernon.
Miya Harris scored a game-high 17 points and Aryianna Sumpter (11) and Aierra Jenkins (10) combined for 21 points for Laurel Highlands (14-5, 9-3).
Saylor Lee led Belle Vernon with a team-high 8 points. Aubrey Brown had 12 rebounds.
The Leps are back in action Monday on the road at Mt. Pleasant.
Penn-Trafford 63, McKeesport 23
The Warriors showed the Tigers why they’re the top dog in Class 5A, staying unbeaten with a big victory.
Torrie DeStefano scored a gamehigh 12 points and Kamryn Pieper had 11 as the Warriors (19-0, 11-0) remained unbeaten.
Emily Eisenberg finished with 11 points to lead the Tigers (5-15, 2-9), who trailed 17-3 after one quarter.
Elizabeth Forward 55, Ringgold 11
Kaylin Staszak scored a gameand career-high 23 points to help lead the Warriors to an easy win over host Ringgold in Section 3-4A play.
Kaelynn Settles added a double- double with 15 points and 10 rebounds and Mia Sostaric ended with 10 points.
The Warriors (15-3, 12-0) held the Rams (7-11, 1-9) scoreless in the second half.
Ringgold is at Laurel Highlands Monday while the Warriors will travel to Kennedy Catholic Saturday looking to extend their 14game winning streak.
South Park 55, Yough 18 Heyley Bennett scored 19 points and Nika Contakos had 11 for the Eagles (13-4, 10-2) as they rolled over the host Cougars in a Section 3-4A contest.
Hailey Bock led Yough (11-9, 5-7) with a team-high 7 points.
The Cougars travel to Elizabeth Forward Monday.
California 51, Bentworth 30
The Trojans led 16-4 after one quarter and cruised to a Section 3-2A win on the road at Bentworth Wednesday.
Leah Hartley led three players in double figures with 13 points for California (9-6, 5-3). Hayley and Olivia Gibson each scored 11 points.
Elizabeth Wade was the top scorer for the Bearcats (7-12, 3-5) with a team-high 10 points.
Both teams are back home Monday with the Bearcats hosting Beth-Center and the Trojans hosting Jefferson-Morgan.
Riverview 54, Frazier 27 Katerina Tsambis scored 24 points and Lily Bauer added 15 as the Raiders (12-3, 7-1) doubled up the Commodores (5-14, 1-7) in Section 4-2A play.
Frazier travels to Monessen Saturday for a non-section game.
Boys South Allegheny 68, Steel Valley 27
The Gladiators stormed their way past the Ironmen in a Section 3-3A matchup to remain unbeaten in section play.
Cam Epps scored a game-high 23 points, Drew Cook had 19 and Josh Jackowski chipped in 11 points as they held the Ironment to six or less points in three out of four quarters.
Ryan Stoker’s nine points led Steel Valley (3-14, 1-6), which saw its losing streak to seven games.
South Allegheny travels to Seton LaSalle today.
