An East Washington man has been arrested for a stabbing in Washington last week.
Lawrence Martin, 62, of East Washington is charged with aggravated assault with extreme indifference, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, simple assault, disorderly conduct and two counts of recklessly endangering another person stemming from the alleged incident Thursday.
Around 11 p.m. Thursday, Washington City police were called to UPMC Washington after a male patient came into the emergency room claiming to have been stabbed.
The victim, who was not identified, said the stabbing happened at the Exxon gas station on Ridge Avenue.
He was transported to a Pittsburgh-area hospital to be treated for his wounds.
Police went to the Exxon and found “clear evidence of an altercation,” according to a release from the department. They said the victim was interviewed twice, and Martin was identified as the suspect.
An arrest warrant was served around 4:30 p.m. Friday at a residence in East Washington. Additional evidence was collected from the home, according to police, and Martin was taken into custody without incident.
He was arraigned at 11 p.m. Friday before Magisterial District Judge Michael L. Manfredi and taken to Washington County Jail.
Martin remains in jail in lieu of $75,000 cash bond.
A preliminary hearing before Manfredi is set for 10 a.m. Feb. 12.
