A man is now facing charges in connection with a fatal shooting in McKeesport Wednesday morning.
Allegheny County police said Floyd Noell, 39, was taken into custody on homicide charges hours after a man was shot at Tube City Cafe in the 900 block of Fifth Avenue just before noon.
“When they arrived, they found a male shot in the upper part of his body. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased,” county police Lt. Venerando Costa told WTAE-TV.
Following the shooting, investigators observed several surveillance cameras both inside the bar and outside the building, a criminal complaint stated. Officials said video showed the victim, later identified as Darnell Ross, enter the bar, where he was confronted by Noell.
Noell was seen with a gun in his right hand, the complaint said. Moments after confronting the victim, an altercation initiated by the suspect occurred.
The complaint said the victim attempted to remove the weapon from Noell before he opened fire. The suspect was then seen leaving the scene in a Chevy Tahoe.
Police spoke with multiple witnesses following the shooting who identified Noell as the shooter.
Officials later located Noell’s vehicle, which was parked in the 1700 block of Evans Avenue, the complaint said.
Noell was taken to the Allegheny County Jail. A preliminary arraignment is pending.
County police investigators are asking anyone who has information about the shooting to call 833-ALLTIPS. Anonymous calls will be accepted.
