West Mifflin SD to host Titan Evolution ‘Alumni Madness’

The festivities kick off 11:30 am. March 8 with the inaugural Community 5K run and kids mile.

The West Mifflin Area School District is inviting the West Mifflin Area community and all graduates to its Titan Evolution Alumni Madness event on March 8.

There will be a series of events throughout the day, starting with the inaugural Community 5K run and kids mile, starting at 11:30 a.m.

In the afternoon, the district will be unveiling its recently renovated Titan Baseball/ Softball Complex, featuring new turf fields and lights, with an alumni musical performance and the ribbon cutting at 3:30 p.m., followed by Titan varsity games on both fields.

The concession stand near the fields will be open at approximately 3 p.m.

Alumni of the four listed WM varsity teams are invited to participate in alumni games for baseball, boys and girls basketball and softball and cheerleading. The day will conclude with the West Mifflin Area community invited to gather at Mulligan’s in West Mifflin at 8 p.m.

Mascots, including T the Titan, the (Washington) Wild Thing and the Penn State Greater Allegheny Nittany Lion, are expected to attend the festivities as well.

For attendees who wish to participate in the Community 5K, Kids Mile, alumni games, or alumni band and cheerleading, register at https://admin.eservicestech. com/p/westmifflinschool/ events . There is a $10 fee to cover the cost of a shirt for the participants in the athletic and alumni events. There will be limited same-day registration.

Any decisions related to the weather and its impact on the outdoor events will be made by 3 p.m. March 7 and will be posted on the district’s website, www.wmasd.org, and social media platforms.

The district’s unveiling of the Titan Performing Arts Center, which is being renovated, was originally scheduled to take place on March 8 but will be delayed due to the equipment fire that occurred in December.

“Whether you’re a WM alumnus or a first-time visitor, Titan Evolution Alumni Madness is a great opportunity to experience just some of what the district has to offer and celebrate with the West Mifflin community. The district hopes you can be a part of this new chapter and enjoy a day of fun, community and excitement,” according to a press release from the district.

• 2 p.m. – Varsity boys & girls basketball alumni game and alumni cheerleading at high school main and auxiliary gym.

• 2:30 p.m. – K-5 Kids kickball game (champions – weather permitting) (Location: TBA).

• 3:00 – Alumni Tent will open at the Titan Baseball/ Softball Complex parking lot.

• 3:30 p.m. – Alumni Music Department performance at Titan BB/SB Complex

• 3:45 p.m. – Ribbon Cutting at Titan Baseball/Softball Complex .

• 4 p.m. – Varsity Baseball (Baldwin vs. West Mifflin Area) at Titan Baseball/Softball Complex.

• 4:p.m. – Varsity Softball (Carmichaels vs. West Mifflin Area) at Titan Baseball/ Softball Complex.

• 6 p.m. – Baseball & softball alumni game at Titan Baseball/Softball Complex.
