Nobody was injured during a fire Monday morning in McKeesport, according to fire officials.
McKeesport firefighters were called to a duplex on Oxford Drive after reports of a fire.
They observed a fire in the duplex’s attic upon arrival, according to a City of McKeesport Bureau of Fire Facebook post.
After emergency responders gained access to the attic, the fire was extinguished swiftly.
“The fire was quickly knocked down, and units not on scene were initially downgraded to non-emergency before the assignment was held to units on scene a few minutes later,” the post reads.
Fire officials said there were no reported injuries.
The Allegheny County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
McKeesport Area Superintendent Donald MacFann sent a letter to parents, guardians and community members, assuring them the fire did not impact the school district or students.
“At approximately 8:35 a.m., a house fire was reported on Oxford (Drive.) This fire poses NO THREAT to the McKeesport School District campus. All students and staff within our buildings are safe,” MacFann wrote.
Oxford Drive is close to the district’s high school and middle school.
