An SUV slammed through the roof of a building in White Oak early Friday morning.
According to our news partners at WTAE, the crash happened a little before 5:45 a.m. on Bridgeview Street near the intersection of Park Way and Senate Street. The vehicle crashed through the building, a garage and warehouse that sits one block below along Congress Street.
Neighbors told WTAE that the driver had a broken arm, but was alert, conscious and speaking with them as well as first responders.
Significant damage was caused to the building, which houses an antique and vintage car club.
White Oak Mayor Ina Jean Marton stated that the driver, who is in his 70s, of the minivan was taken to a hospital.
“I know the fellow was coming down on Senate Street, went airborne and hit the top of a garage roof on Bridgeview Bridge,” Marton said. “He’s OK, but other than that, he allegedly hit the gas instead of the brake.”
Marton said the incident is still under investigation.
