Yough wins in Florida; both Rams’ teams fall to Peters

Jaidyn Vay picked up the first of many varsity wins as the freshman tossed a complete game. She scattered seven hits and allowed three earned runs with eight strikeouts.
Brooke Kowalski and Kierstin Odelli each finished with a single and double to lead the offense for the Cougars (1-0).
Anna Lindner doubled with an RBI as Yough picked up RBIs from Vay and Kowalski.
Dina Lewis took the loss for the Braves (45) after allowing four earned runs through three innings.
The Cougars are back in action Monday in Florida against Green Farms Academy (Conn.).
Peters Township 13, Ringgold 0 Makenzie Morgan and Addie Brunette each drove in four runs for the Indians (1-0) as they rolled over the host Rams (0-1) on Opening Day at Finley Fields.
Avery Carson had three hits, including two doubles and an RBI. Madi Renda chipped in a pair of RBIs for PT.
Ally Bagnell had two hits with a double for Ringgold.
Lili Giulianelli got the win for the Indians in the circle. She struck out 12 and allowed only four hits.
Megan Powell was saddled with the loss for the Rams.
Ringgold travels to South Park Tuesday.
Mapletown 18, California 4 The Maples (1-0) had no issues in a romp over the Trojans (0-1) to open the season Friday.
Gabbi Luncinski took the loss in the circle for California, going 2 1.3 innings and allowing 11 runs. Of those 11, only four were earned as the Trojans comitted three errors defensively.
Madyson Morton, Kayla Saeli and Aubrey Dearinger accounted for the three California hits.
The Trojans are back in action Tuesday when they host Avella.
Baseball Peters Township 6, Ringgold 2
Peters Township took control from the beginning and never looked back, opening up a 4-0 lead in the first two frames.
Brody Takacs got the scoring started for the Indians (1-0) with a two-run shot in the first before Zach Miner had a two-run double in the second.
Gavin Angotti and Alex Kolano each drove in a run for the Rams (0-1) to make it 5-2 in the top of the fifth, but PT added one more run for good measure.
The Rams will be back in action at South Park on Monday.
