Evelyn M. Metz – Fayette City

Evelyn M. Metz, 78, of Fayette City, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Satu r d a y , March 15, 2025, in her home. A daugh ter of the late Robert M. and Lorraine Chapell Yates, she was born in North Charleroi on Sept. 22, 1946. Residing most of her adult life in Washington Township, Evelyn was a member of Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Fayette City, where she was a deaconess and served on the hospitality committee, serving food for church events. She had been employed as a baker in the cafeteria at Belle Vernon Area High School for 20 years, retiring in 2011. Evelyn loved playing bocce with her Belle Vernon League. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Brian Shrader of Rostraver Township; stepchildren and their families; a sister and brother in-law, Alice and Gary Buchanan of Coudersport, Pa.; three grandchildren, Shane (Marti) Zeppenfield of Hermanie, Robbie Metz and family of West Virginia and Veronica Metz of Perryopolis; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael D. Metz; and a son, Robert “Bruno” Metz.  Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2025, and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2025, at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-9295300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with Pastor Paul Cope officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
