Charles Russell Marsland Jr., a beloved figure in his family and community, passed away on March 17, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on June 17, 1946, in Brownsville, Pa., Charles lived a life defined by hard work and family devotion. A proud coal miner, he dedicated his career to the coal industry, embodying the spirit of resilience and determination that characterized his generation. Chuck is survived by his son, Chad Marsland (Dana Encapera) and daughter, Natalie Marsland, all of whom carry forward the values he instilled in them. His legacy is further enriched by his adoring grandchildren: Katie Neild (Cody) and Joe Marsland (Rayna Santo Marsland); alongside his cherished great-grandchildren; Addilyn Marsland, Harper Neild, Charles Marsland, Oliver Marsland, Warren Neild and Ila Neild. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Lois Cook, who held a special place in his heart. In the days to come, we will gather to honor Chuck’s remarkable life and the indelible mark he left on all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at MARISCOTTI FUNERAL HOME INC., Anthony N. Mariscotti, supervisor, 323 Fourth St., California, Pa., where family and friends will come together to share memories, celebrate his achievements, and find comfort in one another. As we celebrate Charles Russell Marsland Jr., let us remember his unwavering strength, his dedication to his craft and most importantly, the love he shared with those around him. May he rest in peace. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Marsland, in 2014; and three sisters, Roseanne Kieper, Carol Salzman and Shirley Marsland.
