Barbara R. Spiegel Trunzo – New Eagle
Barbara R. Spiegel Trunzo, 93, of New Eagle, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025, in her home. Barb was born Feb. 5, 1932, in North Charleroi, a daughter of the late Michael G. and Augusta Messner Spiegel. A 1950 graduate of Charleroi High School, Barb got her degree in nursing in 1953 from Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. She began working as a registered nurse at Monongahela Valley Hospital, working on their cancer floor until her retirement in 1994. Barb was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Monongahela. She enjoyed planting flowers, gardening and doing crossword puzzles, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and most recently her great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Ernest “Edie” Trunzo; six children, Jeffrey M. Trunzo (Herman Goodyear) of Takoma Park, Md., Sharon K. (Thomas) Amoroso of Rostraver Township; Sandra Lee (Paul) Haber of State College, Pa.; Sherry Lynn Trunzo (Kim Callan) of Lakeland, Fla.; Gary A. (Bernadine) of Forward Township and Paul E. Trunzo of New Eagle; six grandchildren, Josh Haber (Sara Arredondo), Rebecca (Chuck) Erney, James and Erica Amoroso and twins Tyler and Zachary Trunzo; two great-grandchildren, Alexander Robert Erney and Zoe Elena Haber; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Barb was preceded in death by their infant daughter, Maureen, who died Nov. 11, 1965; her brother, George M. (Rose) Spiegel; and her sister, Helene Gleason. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2025, at MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-2586767, where services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Barb’s nephew, Thomas Trunzo, officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
