John ‘JB’ Francis Blatnik II – Charleroi
John “JB” Francis Blatnik II, 64, of Charleroi, passed away suddenly at home after a battle with cancer on March 20, 2025. He was born on Dec. 14, 1960, in North Charleroi, to John F Blatnik and Michaela Blatnik. Throughout John’s life, he was known for his faith and his love of sports. He was an avid fan of Pitt and all things Pittsburgh (Steelers, Penguins and Pirates) and the hometown Charleroi Cougars. He was a beloved husband, father and brother, and his determined energy touched all who knew him. He had a passion for coaching, and he did so from 2008 to 2014, assisting in his son’s football career at Charleroi. He helped move the first down sticks until the end of the 2023 season. He was a member of the The H.O.P.E Church, Teamsters Local Union 585 and the Knights of Columbus. He was a former employee of Hostess and recent employee of Waste Management of Washington, Pa. He was a devoted believer and faith seeker of the word of God; he read his Bible daily along with his devotional. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Blatnik; son, Joshua Blatnik; stepdaughter, Alexandra Lucketti; and family dog, Snoopy; siblings, Catherine (Ken) Zites, Christopher (Lisa) Blatnik, Therese “Terri” Sherwood, Gregory (Sarah) Blatnik, Vincent (Tricia) Blatnik, Julianne (Robert) Powell, Anthony (Mary) Blatnik, Christina (Jon) Stefanick; so many nieces, nephews; and four great-nieces. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; his sisterin- law, Loree Blatnik; brother- in-law, Eric Sherwood; nieces, Heather Garbutt and Gabrielle Nicklow; and his beloved dog, Brandi, who got him through some of the hardest times in his life. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2025, at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022. A funeral service will be held inside the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2025, with Pastor Jeff Marton officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
