The greasers and the pink ladies will take to the Yough Senior High School stage this weekend as the school’s drama department is set to debut “Grease: The School Version.”
Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday with a 2 p.m. matinee Sunday at the high school, 919 Lowber Road, Herminie. Tickets are $7 for students and $12 for adults and can be purchased at https://yhsdramatickets. ludus.com/select.php.
“Grease” is a classic, directed by Kyla Yencik, with choreography by Savanna Stants. Kaylee Dawson is house manager.
Set in and around a 1950s high school, “Grease” features iconic songs and flashy dances. The show centers the two cliques, the greasers and the pink ladies, as they collide and entangle — driven by fraught romance of Danny and Sandy.
In Yough’s Josh Hall, the show finds its Danny Zuko. The show demands of him — like all its cast — singing, dancing and acting at the same time. It’s the dance routines that he said are the most fun.
Abbey Zuraw plays Sandy, who once thought she would be attending a private Christian school, but instead finds herself mired in the drama of public high school. Sandy is new to the school, making friends with the pink ladies and reconnecting with one-time summer fling Danny.
Rounding out the cast are the Pink Ladies: Julie Shuber as Rizzo; Caliope Young as Frenchy; Mandi Gerdich, Marty; and Addison Watkins, Jan.
The Burger Palace Boys will be played by the following: Jacob Booher as Kenickie; Rowan Taylor as Doody; Caleb Richardson, Roger; and Brayden Anderson, Sonny.
Additional characters: Abby Dodson as Patty; McCartney Nader as Cha-Cha; Elijah Frischolz as Eugene; Ava Dietz as Vince Fontaine; William Spell, Johnny Casino; Jacob Booher, Teen Angel; Hailey Whalen, Miss Lynch; Emma Smith, Coach; and Lindsay Moskyok, Radio Voice.
Ensemble cast members: Chloe Buchko, Ryeley Ellsworth, Jenna Fawcett, Allie King, Bella Maroney and Lindsay Moskyok.
Vocal director for the musical is Christopher Ritz. Assistant Director is Brandon Keselyak and production assistant is David Postlethwait.
