Jean Joyce Pierotti Ambrose – Belle Vernon
Jean Joyce Pierotti Ambrose, 91, of Belle Vernon, passed on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, surrounded by her children who loved and cheri shed her. Lovi ngly known as “Nunnie” to many, she was born Dec. 10, 1933, in Wickhaven, Pa., daughter of the late Silvio Pierotti and the late Edna Nigra Pierotti. She graduated as valedictorian from Perry High School in 1951. Jean was married to the late Fidel Charles Ambrose from 1954 until his death in 1988. Together they raised eight wonderful children. Jean was happiest when she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She savored the chaos and excitement when her house was filled to capacity. This stemmed from her clan’s childhood days when there were always numerous extra kids in the house to the days where the number multiplied significantly with each new grandchild and great-grandchild. Homemade ravioli, gnocchi, breads, donuts and sheet pies were just a few of the many fabulous foods she prepared for her family, who loved and admired her compassion, strength and the lasting influence she had on their lives. She took great pride in raising her children and found tremendous joy watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. She was always ready to help or provide support and guidance throughout their lives, sharing her wisdom and love in abundance. Jean was a seasoned traveler, visiting sites around the world with her family including trips to Austria, Thailand, Turkey, Bali, Malaysia, England, Belgium, Italy, Singapore, Indonesia, Hawaii and numerous other destinations. She created so many memories with her family that will be cherished forever. Jean was an active member of St. Sebastian in Belle Vernon and attended Mass daily and assisted at the church for as long as she was able. She was especially proud of her volunteer service at St. Vincent de Paul, where she valued the friendships of many other volunteers. Jean always loved spending time with her family and looked forward to her weekly Sunday visits with her sisters, brother and sister-in-law in Perryopolis. She loved listening to Andrea Bocelli, doing the New York Times crossword puzzles and watching “Jeopardy!” Jean moved to the Residence at Hilltop in 2019, where she made numerous friends and was loved and treated like family by all of the staff. She loved everyone there! In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Peter, Silvio and John Pierotti; sisters, Marie M. Galla, Adeline A. Walkush and Joan M. Beaumariage; and two grandsons, Brandon Greenawalt and Jared Konsugar. Jean is survived by her daughters, Vicky (Mark) Fafalios, Donna Robinson, Susan (Ed) Hostetter, Mary Ann (Michael) Konsugar, Jeannie (Ralph) Singer, Janet (Gary Johnson) Greenawalt and Nancy (Jim) Johnson; a son, Fidel Ambrose; grandchildren, Chris Fafalios, Rachel (Matt) Long, Anna Colaizzi, Joshua (Sinem) Hostetter and Jake (Julie) Hostetter, Alexandra (Austin) Robinson, Matthew Robinson, Jordan (Grace) Greenawalt, Kyle (Felicia) Johnson, and Alyssa (Arianna) Johnson; greatgrandchildren, Brinley, Riley, Kinsley, Mara and Esra; sisters, Pauline Timko of Perryopolis and Marlene Pope of Phoenix, Ariz.; and sister-inlaw, Joann Pierotti of Valparaiso, Ind.
