Willie Pettyjohn – Rostraver Township
Willie Pettyjohn, 96, of Rostraver Township, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. He was born June 17, 1928, in Amherst, Va., son of Willie and Bessie Ray Pettyjohn. Willie was the oldest member, a deacon and quite active in his day at The Church of Jesus Christ in Monongahela. He retired from U.S. Steel’s Clairton Works as a head craneman with over 30 years of employment. Willie loved being outdoors. He spent time tending to his vegetable garden, raising pigs and chickens, tinkering on his trucks and cars, cutting the grass at the Fells Cemetery and maintaining a local spring in the area. He is survived by four daughters and a son, Gloria Minnie of Belle Vernon, Catherine Clark of Donora, Rosemary (Leonard) Larkin of North Carolina, Jacqueline Washington, and David Pettyjohn, both of Rostraver Township; 17 grandchildren; 37 greatgrandchildren; and 26 greatgreat-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae Glenn Pettyjohn, who died Sept. 9, 2020; son, Willie Pettyjohn Jr.; granddaughter, Justina Underwood; great-grandsons, John and Ja’waun Minnie; and brother, Loyd Pettyjohn. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ, 525 Sixth St., Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2025, with Elders Johnathan Nath and Brandon Coppa officiating.
