James ‘Jimmy’ Augustus Cavallaro – McKeesport
James “Jimmy” Augustus Cavallaro, 89, died on Sunday, March 30, 2025, of natural causes at his home in McKeesport. He was born in McKeesport, on Feb. 16, 1936, and is the son of the late Rocco and Elizabeth Cavallaro. Jimmy was a graduate of McKeesport Area High School and was a proud member of the United States Army. He was a dedicated public servant and worked for the Social Security Administration for over 30 years. Many remember Jimmy as a fixture at the Monroeville Mall Ice Skating rink dating back to the 1970s. He continued ice skating into his 80s as it was his passion. In addition to his love for figure skating, he enjoyed photography, carpentry and gardening. Jimmy was an active member of Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Patrick Church. He was loved by everybody, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. There was nothing he loved more than spending time with family. Jimmy is survived by his sisters, Patty (Ed) Taimuty of McMurray, Pa., and Stella Oleska of Pittsburgh. He was the centerpiece of a large Italian family and is also survived by 11 living nieces and nephews, Joe (Tammy), Keith (Jennifer), Jaqueline (Ray), Carol, Laura, Ricci, Denise (Benny), Trish (Kim), Eddie (Danielle), Brian (Darma), and Dean (Rebecca); as well as 24 living great-nieces and great-nephews; and 20 greatgreat-nieces and great-greatnephews. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his sister, Clara Cavallaro; and brothers, Joseph (the late Marlene) Cavallaro and Patsy Cavallaro. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Jimmy’s memory from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2025, at STRIFFLERS OF WHITE OAK CREMATION AND MORTUARY SERVICES INC., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon at Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Patrick Church, 312 32nd St., McKeesport, PA 15132. An entombment will follow at Lebanon Chapel Mausoleum of West Mifflin, Pa.
