Eagles batter Bears; TJ, West Mifflin win close games

Six Eagles had two hits apiece as seven of the team’s 14 hits went for extra bases.
Owen Dumbroski doubled and tripled in the win. Jake Jellison and freshman Cole Hann each had two hits with a triple and drove in three runs.
The Eagles (8-2, 4-1) opened the game with a four-run first inning behind and RBI single from Tyler Skaggs, an RBI double by Max Black and a Hann two-run single.
Jake Anderson got the win after tossing 4 2/3 innings after relieving starter Bodi Rieger after one out in the bottom of the first.
Anderson allowed only one hit and struck out seven.
Adonte Wiggins took the loss for the Bears (0-6, 0-3) after being tagged for 13 hits and 12 earned runs in the loss.
The two teams meet again in Port Vue today.
West Mifflin 1, Ringgold 0 Runs were at a premium as the two teams managed only three combined hits as the Titans (10-3, 5-0) extended their winning streak to six games.
Jackson Fite got the win for West Mifflin as he allowed a lone hit and struck out eight.
Tyler Fisher was equally effective for the Rams (4-7, 3-4) as he allowed only two hits over six innings.
The lone Titans run came on an error following a bunt by Nate Fleming.
The two teams meet again today for Game 2 of the series at the Titan Evolution Complex.
Connellsville 11, McKeesport 0
The Falcons opened the game with four runs in the top of the first and never looked back as they beat the Tigers (0-10, 0-5) in Section 4-5A play at Helen Richey Field.
Grayden Gillott had three hits with a double and three RBIs, and teammate Gradin Hodge added three hits and three RBIs for Connellsville (7-2, 3-1). Jayden Mickens added a double and two RBIs.
Tommy Minnick got the loss for the Tigers.
Mason Miller got the win for the Falcons.
The two teams meet again today in Fayette County.
Char-Houston 4, Frazier 1 Jake Perchinsky had a pair of hits and two RBIs, and Aaron Walsh had two hits and drove in a run as the Bucs (5-3, 3-3) topped the Commodores in Section 1-2A action.
Chase Fulmer had two hits for Frazier,(4-5, 1-3), who has lost five straight after starting the season 4-0.
Aidan Hardy took the loss for the Commodores after scattering seven hits and allowing four earned runs. He struck out seven.
Brady Gotfredson got the win for the Buccaneers.
The two teams meet today in Perryopolis.
Fort Cherry 9, Frazier 2 In the continuation of a game suspended by darkness Wednesday, the Rangers earned a Section 1-2A win over the Commodores (4-5, 1-4).
Matt Sieg had three hits and an RBI for the Rangers (5-4, 5-1).
Ryan Huey, who picked up the win on the mound, and Tyler Wolfe each drove in a pair of runs for Fort Cherry.
Ben Demascal, Landon Trnavsky and Wolfe each had a double.
Brant Alekson took the loss after starting the game last week.
Dailan McManus drove in the only run for Frazier.
T. Jefferson 1, Montour 0 A pitching duel came down to the wire and Noah Kaszer called game for the Jaguars.
Kaszer ripped a two-out, walk-off double to score pinch-runner Justin Berberich with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh for the Jaguars (6-3, 4-0).
Kaszer and Luke Kosko each had a pair of hits for TJ in support of Dom Metz on the bump.
Metz tossed a complete game, scattering seven hits and striking out seven.
Matteo Weber worked 6 2/3 innings for the Spartans (4-5, 2-3).
The two teams will face off again today at Montour.
South Allegheny 12, East Allegheny 2
Josh Jackowski struck out 13 and allowed only one earned run and three hits as the Gladiators rolled over the Wildcats (0-7, 0-5) in Section 2-3A action.
Mason Campano doubled, singled and had three RBIs for the Gladiators (3-7-1, 2-3). Koltin Keener drove in three.
Josh Nesky added a single and double with Hunter Fulmer adding a double for SA.
Cedric Mack took the loss for East Allegheny after allowing seven hits and 10 runs in three innings. He was tagged for 10 runs, but only two were earned as his defense committed six errors.
The two teams will square off today on the Wildcats’ field.
Keystone Oaks 4, Charleroi 3 (8) Charleroi had a 3-0 lead but surrendered it and eventually lost in extra innings.
Keystone Oaks scored two runs in the fifth, one in the bottom of the seventh to tie, and one in the bottom of the eighth as Nate Rohe drew a game-winning walk.
For the Cougars (4-4, 3-3), Jace Pager led the way by going 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Starter Jake Corrin went six innings and gave up seven hits and three earned runs with four strikeouts.
The two teams will rematch today at Charleroi.
Mt. Pleasant 12, Yough 2 Cole Chatfield had a double and two singles, and Dane Firmstone doubled twice with three RBIs as the Vikings (6-4, 5-2) hammered Yough (2-7, 2-3) in five innings.
Jacob Kitz doubled and pitched Mt. Pleasant to the win after allowing four hits and two earned runs with eight strikeouts over five innings.
Jake Williams took the loss for the Cougars, who got two RBIs and a double from Raidon Kuroda. Nate Bell and Aidan Shaffer each added doubles for Yough.
The two teams will tangle today on Cougar Mountain.
Washington 15, Monessen 0
Washington rolled over Monessen in five innings at Wild Things Park on Monday.
Caleb Patton went 4 for 4 with an RBI, William Callan was 3 for 4 with two RBIs, Noah Patton went 2 for 4 with an RBI and Jayden Hagan hit 2 for 3 with three RBIs.
The Prexies (3-9) were led by Caleb Patton on the mound as he earned the win with three hits.
For Monessen (0-10), Daniel Towler, Christian Scherer and Colton Shawley managed hits.
Monessen will play Frazier next on Thursday.
Softball Waynesburg 5, Frazier 4
The Raiders scored four two-out runs in the top of fourth inning thanks to three Commodore errors on their way to snapping Frazier’s five-game winning streak.
The Commodores (5-2, 2-1) tried to rally in the bottom of the seventh, scoring a pair of runs on Grace Vaughn’s two-run double. Vaughn ended up stranded at third-base as Emme Travalena’s soft liner to center hung up just long enough to be caught for the the final out.
Gina Tedrow got the win for the Raiders (5-3, 2-0) after striking out 15. She was able to overcome nine walks, allowing only two hits and four earned runs.
Travalena added a triple for the Commodores as Addison Hiles was tagged with the loss. She struck out eight and allowed only one earned run.
Frazier is back in action Thursday on the road at Bentworth.
Mt. Pleasant 5, Yough 3 After the Cougars took a one-run lead in the top of the fifth inning, the Vikings (6-3, 4-0) struck for three in the bottom half of the frame to pull ahead for good and claim a Section 1-3A victory.
Danica Trainer had three hits for Mt. Pleasant with a double, single and solo homer. Kendra Brunson drove in a pair of runs for the winners.
Trainer got the win after allowing seven hits with 10 strikeouts.
Payton Jenkins took the loss after scattering nine hits and allowing five runs. Only two were earned.
Anna Lindner (double, single) and Kierstin Odelli each had a pair of hits for Yough (2-5, 0-3). Linder drove in two runs.
Yough is back in action today at home against Burrell, looking to snap a five-game losing streak.
Eliz. Forward 8, W.Mifflin 0 The Warriors bounced back from their loss at Belle Vernon Saturday, snapping the Titans’ five-game winning streak with a shutout win.
Julia Johnson was dominant in the circle, picking up the win after allowing just four singles and striking out nine.
The Warriors’ Julia Resnik and Addy Nigut each had a single, double and RBI in the win to lead the offense.
Aubri Cimba, Johnson and Berlyn Holibaugh each doubled. Sophie Pasinsky tripled and had two RBIs.
Rylie Dobnak took the loss for West Mifflin (7-4, 5-1) after allowing 10 hits and eight runs over six innings.
The Warriors (5-2, 3-1) travel to Oakland Catholic today at 5 p.m.
Serra Catholic 6, Greensburg CC 0
Kelly Morrissey tossed a perfect game in the circle with a whopping 17 strikeouts as the Eagles (2-4, 2-0) won consecutive games for the first time this season.
Morrissey (double, single), Alonna Morton (triple, single) and Johanna Domek each finished with two hits.
Domek and Abby Opferman each drove in a pair of runs in the win.
The game was the season opener for the Centurions (0-1, 0-1).
The Eagles are back home today against Monessen.
Bethel Park 2, Thomas Jefferson 1
Aubrey Campbell’s two-out RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning scored Allison Jones to give the Black Hawks (7-2, 3-2) a thrilling walk-off win over the Jaguars (5-3, 3-2) in a Section 4-5A contest.
TJ (5-3, 3-2) out-hit Bethel Park, 8-5, led by two hits each from Liv Stock, Sophie Janosko and Alayna Grese.
Ali Chalovich doubled and drove in the only run for the Jaguars in the top of the third inning. Sophie Janosko tripled.
The Jaguars travel to Baldwin Wednesday in section play.
Leechburg 14, Monessen 8 Playing for the first time in 13 days, things remained the same for the Greyhounds as they watched the Blue Devils score the final six runs of the game and pull away for a Section 3-1A win.
The Hounds (0-5, 0-2) committed four errors and pitcher Joey Hurst walked 10 hitters in the loss. Hurst allowed eight hits but only fou runs were earned with the defensive lapses. She struck out nine.
Grace Clingenpeel carried the biggest bat for Monessen, finishing 3 for 4 with three doubles, an RBI and three runs scored. Hurst drove in two runs at the plate.
Addie Zanotto got the win for the Blue Devils (4-3, 2-1).
At the plate, Zanotto drove in three runs and finished with three doubles. Ava Ferretti doubled and singled twice.
The Greyhounds will look to get on the winning track today on the road at Serra Catholic.
McKeesport 13, Gateway 2 Jess Miller and Ryenn Thomas combined for six hits and three RBIs as the Tigers rolled to a five-inning win over the Gators (3-7, 0-7) at home.
The win snapped a six-game losing skid for McKeesport.
Thomas doubled and had two RBIs, and she picked up the win on the mound allowing two hits without an earned run.
Esiah Harper added three hits and an RBI for McKeesport (2-5, 1-4).
