McKeesport groups name 2018 Hall of Fame inductees

The McKeesport High School Alumni & Friends Association and the Consortium for Public Education announced that five distinguished alumni and a group of 23 McKeesport High School students who served and died in the Vietnam War, known as “The McKeesport 23,” were selected for induction into the 2018 Hall of Fame.
With this year’s class, membership in the Hall of Fame will stand at 211.
The 2018 honorees are:
• Daniel F. Marusa, Class of 1969 — Naval commander, executive Officer of the Naval Air Technical Training Center.
• Barbara Bechtol Cross, Class of 1971 — retired Lt. Col. U.S. Marine Corps.
• David J. Thompson, Class of 1978 — detective, bureau commander of Malibu Lost Hills Station.
• David Spurgeon, Class of 1989 — Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas judge.
• Lauren Apter Bairnsfather, Class of 1992 — executive director of the Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh.
• Swin Cash-Canal, Class of 1998 — director of franchise development for New York Liberty, sports analyst, retired WNBA champion, Olympic gold medalist, philanthropist.
