Charleroi girls nip Monessen in OT

Despite a nuisance rain shower, the Charleroi girls soccer team was able to overcome a sloppy game and beat cross-river and Section 2-A rival Monessen, 3-2, in overtime at Myron Pottios Stadium Monday.

Just 90 seconds into the sudden-death period, Charleroi’s Megan Sterner ripped a shot past Monessen keeper Mattie Telegraphis to win the game for the Cougars (3-3, 3-2). The goal, assisted by Madison Musser, was Sterner’s second of the game.
