Serra Catholic rally falls short

In the days leading up to his team’s nonsection bout with Penn Hills Saturday, Serra Catholic head coach Justin Walther had the utmost confidence in his team’s ability to compete with one of the best teams in Class 5A.

“We can play with them,” he said earlier in the week.

While the end result wasn’t what he envisioned, the third-year coach watched as his team, one of the top squads in Class 2A, did exactly what he expected it to do.

The Eagles turned an 11-point halftime deficit into a fourth quarter lead before falling short in their comeback attempt and suffering a 72-66 defeat at the hands of the Indians at the Shootout at Seton Hill.
