Cougars hammer rival Greyhounds

The 2019 softball season could not have opened any better for Charleroi coach Trey Tilghman.

And it could not have been any worse for new Monessen coach Carlee Wickstrom.

Tilghman’s Cougars batted around in their first inning of the season Wednesday, scoring six runs. From there, the hosts never quit scoring. Meanwhile, his promising pitcher Kylie Quigley was busy mowing down Monessen batters one after another.

By the time the game was stopped in the third inning, Charleroi had earned a 15-0 win and Quigley recorded her first career no-hitter.
