Monessen baseball coach Billy Matush has fond memories of the way his team played last season.
Despite going 2-3 in their first five Section 2-A games, the Greyhounds only got better as the year went on, winning their final seven section contests to reach the WPIAL playoffs.
Not only did Monessen advance to the postseason for the second consecutive year, it also made history in the process, earning the program’s first-ever playoff victory with a 2-0 first round triumph over Western Beaver on May 15.
