Trojans looking for pitching, runs in 2019

Last season was tough for the Trojans softball team.

Cal (3-13, 1-11) had trouble producing runs and keeping teams off the scoreboard, which was a detrimental factor in their season outcome.

California is looking forward to a much better 2019 season and they will attempt to do it with a team that has no seniors. These young players will have their work cut out for them. Last year’s team MVP Marley Evans graduated, taking with her a .575 batting average. Also departed are all the players who started on the mound.

“Our biggest challenge has been getting the girls ready for pitching,” said Cal manager Vance Caeti. “All of our pitchers graduated. But we played a scrimmage Friday against Fort Cherry and they looked pretty good, despite some terrible conditions.”
