“Respect our city. Respect our Earth.”
That is what McKeesport Mayor Michael Cherepko is calling on Tube City residents to do during the fifth annual “McKeesport Spring Cleaning Environmental Event.”
Cherepko and city employees are asking their neighbors to “join volunteers from across the city in neighborhood-specific groups to clear trash and other debris from city streets, sidewalks and lots,” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 4.
Bags, gloves and vests will be provided by the Great American Cleanup and the city.
Lunch will be served to all volunteers.
“As I say all the time, I truly believe the success of our city has a lot to do with everyday McKeesporters giving back to their community,” Cherepko said. “This event relies heavily on volunteers who are working together for a better McKeesport. The groups who are going out on May 4 are proud of their neighborhoods, and they’re doing their part to keep them clean.”
The mayor said it is “extremely important” that those who are interested call his office at 412-675-5020, ext. 605 or email his assistant, Jennifer Vertullo, at [email protected], to RSVP for the event to ensure adequate supplies are provided.
