More police patrols planned in N. Eagle

New Eagle will increase its police presence, especially during weekends and nights.
Councilman Archie Caseber said Tuesday that the borough wants to keep ahead of any trouble. In recent weeks, several cars have been vandalized and firework shows have been staged nearly every night. He added that a group of preteens are roaming at night and he wants to have increased police presence to prevent trouble.
Councilman George Tirpak asked Solicitor Tim Berggren if there are steps that can be taken to stop the fireworks, which are legal in Pennsylvania. Berggren said the borough can make a more restrictive ordinance and promised to look into the matter.
Resident Barbara Bolt asked council to fix a pothole on Pine Street. Bolt is in a motorized wheelchair and said it’s hard to navigate the sidewalk. Council President Jack Fine promised the borough would patch the pothole right away. He added that the borough is still using cold patch because asphalt plants don’t open until at least the middle of April.
