Mon Valley first responders kept busy as wet and windy weather swept through the area Friday.

Scattered showers throughout the day made for dreary conditions, but wind gusts of up to 20 miles per hour proved to be the problem for area firefighters, especially in Belle Vernon and Speers.

Charleroi Fire Chief Robert Whiten Jr. said the department responded to multiple weather-related calls Friday afternoon.

As a burst of heavy rain and winds moved through the area around 1 p.m., Charleroi first responders received a call for a tree that fell onto a house in the 200 block of Oakland Avenue.
