Cedarbrook improved to 2-0 in the opening week of Grebb League action with a 32-29 victory over winless Lee Supply Wednesday night at the Califronia Area Middle School Gymnasium.
Free throws were crucial in the waning minutes for each squad as a substantial number of points came from the charity stripe.
Lee Supply (0-2) mounted a comeback in the final 2:30 of the contest.
Sara Aumer, the first overall pick in this year’s draft, rebounded a Lee Supply miss and scored to end a 6-0 Cedarbrook run. She knocked down two free throws to bring Lee Supply within reach at 28-25. After a one minute drought, Jenna Dawson scored two of her 11 points to trim the lead to one with under a minute remaining. Aniya Tarpley hit two more free throws to give Lee Supply a chance for a stop, and the win.
But Dawson fouled Nya Adams in the backcourt to give her a one-and-one opportunity.
Adams cooly sank both shots as Cedarbrook (2-0) took the lead for good at 30-29 with 28.2 seconds remaining.
