Trailing by one run, Mitch’s Bail Bonds had its share of late chances to squeeze across the tying score against left-hander Jimmy Malone.

Mitch’s had runners on first and second with two outs in the fifth and seventh innings, but couldn’t come away with the equalizing run in a 3-2 loss to Mill Run in Fayette County Baseball League action at Charleroi’s Vets Field on Sunday.

Bo Conrad and Garrett Stevenson each reached on singles in the fifth to put runners on before a 6-4 fielder’s choice ended the threat. Austin Clark led off the seventh with a bloop single and three batters later TJ Lux walked to put a second runner on, but another 6-4 fielder’s choice closed out the game and handed Mitch’s its first loss of the season.

“We got our guys on and we had a couple of good at bats at different times where there were guys who came through with a big gap shot or something. I was hoping right there at the end we could get one more,” Mitch’s head coach Ryan Encapera said. “We got to (Malone) a little bit, but hats off to him. He’s done well against us the last couple of years.”
