A Glassport building has deteriorated into a state of near collapse as a result of this weekend’s storms, according to Mayor Keith DiMarco.

DiMarco said the building, which is located on the 500 block of Monongahela Avenue on the corner of Hemlock, has not been in use “for years.”

Following the collapse of the back porches and stairs areas, cones were put in place to block the alleyway leading to the building — preventing unknowing motorists from driving through the alley.

The building once served as the home of Clarene’s Corner, which was a convenient store.
