A school in the Elizabeth Forward School District has received the nation’s top honor in education.

Central Elementary School has been designated a 2019 Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education, with U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos making the announcement.

“We recognize and honor your important work in preparing students for successful careers and meaningful lives,” DeVos said.

“The U.S. Department of Education looked at five years of data,” said Dr. Todd Keruskan, the district superintendent. “We got the award because our achievement gap has gotten smaller and smaller.”
